Here it is, this weeks Decoy Listening Station. These albums were hand selected by staff and readers alike and I highly recommend checking out the links posted with each album to give each of these a listen.

Dan's luck with the ladies has been lacking, thus he is forced to swallow his pride and

Seeing Go It Alone tonight (Thursday August 23rd) at their second and final Toronto show ever before they break up for good later this month is very disheartening. And for that, I am have been spinning every GIA record for the past few weeks.

I’m no writer so I’m going to keep this pretty short. Bald Eagle is a band from Columbia, MO. Which is where all the good music comes from, right? They mix some 90’s DC emo/indie with a bit of Don Caballero and some good ol’ fashioned Rock and Roll. From the groove of the album’s best song “Sharks are Fucked Up” to the funky “Trans Dyn-O-Mite” these guys are very good at what they do. At times they come across sounding like Fugazi gone pop, which is a great thing in my opinion. There’s even a part on the instrumental “Shady Creepers” that reminds me of “J’Nuh” by Sunny Day Real Estate. Check these dudes out. They will get you movin’.

Nick wants you to assume the position...all of you
Oceansize - Everyone Into Position

Not enough can be said to describe the sound that Oceansize produce throughout the 70-minute album, Everyone Into Position. It's like Dark Side Of The Moon meets Aenima, with that extra kick. From the post-rock ambiance of "Meredith" to the in your face "A Homage To A Shame" to every rock/pop genre in between, everyone will find something to love about this album. With their third album, Frames, to be released in October, Oceansize have huge expectations. Is it possible for them to top their first two releases? Hopefully, third time's a charm.

Armand makes it absolutely impossible for me to execute a play on words

Ahh, the French, never ones to disappoint. Their pastries are awesome (éclairs ftw!), they apparently invented the fry or at least stole it and claimed it as their own, they have kickass accents, they host the Tour de France, baguettes, and now they bring us shoegazing black metal hybrids Alcest. There is not much else to say. Shoegaze is pretty awesome, but when you mix it with a little black metal, then it gets even better! Also, they are found by one of the members of Amesoeurs, who are one of the best bands I know that have only written three songs in their career, so it has to be good.

Rick...the band name nor album title allowed for a good headline, but with the listening station and shitty christmas gifts alike, it's the thought that counts
Embodyment - The Narrow Scope of Things

Let’s get it out of the way now, this album is everything a heavy, emotional, deep album should be. Songs range from the dark brooding of “Greedy Hands” to the acoustic “One Less Addiction” to the ravagingly heavy “Assembly Line Humans”. The outright amazing combination of melodic vocals, visceral screams, metalcore beatdowns, post-hardcore structures, and deep lyrics allows this album to be just as amazing today as it was when it was released in the summer of 2000. Every modern emocore band should listen to this album about 100 times.

Chris Conlan takes this opportunity to show the fact he has this album and you don't
The Bled - Silent Treatment

While many were left disappointed with the band’s sophomore album, Found in the Flood , the guys from The Bled are back and better than ever. On the groups new album, Silent Treatment, the guys bring back the chaos, with a splash of melody to the mix.

Some might say it is a mix of Pass the Flask and Found in the Flood, and I’d have to agree with them although the melodic singing actually seems to work this time around. The entire album is solid. The end.

Chris Pandolfo throws everyone a curveball with his selection

By now all of you know that i'm a Dredg fanboy - that's a given. I'm basically a fanboy for any of my top six or seven favorite bands. One of those bands happens to be BTBAM. I've already done like three other listening stations in the past about this band and now they're coming out with their 65 minute prog rock opus, Colors, and it's THE BEST FUCKING...hold on...let me calm down...

Okay...Colors is the best CD i've heard since Dredg's El Cielo. It's right up there with Tool's Lateralus and 10,000 Days as well. You could never know the expectations i've had for this CD and it's incredible to say that I didn't even think it could be this fucking good. The album runs together as one continuous 65 minute song split up into 8 tracks. It's almost embarrassing to know that other metal bands or other bands in general will be releasing CDs this year and won't have a third of the effort put into Colors. On this album you will hear sections that sound like Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Tool, Opeth, The Beatles, King Crimson, you'll hear death metal, you'll hear bluegrass, you'll hear polka, jazz, post rock, and much more. You'll hear didgeridoos, banjo, trumpet, strings, keys, and several different types of percussion.

I could basically go on and on. If you enjoy this band, listen to this album. If you hate this band, listen to this album. If you do not enjoy this album then you have no brain. It's simple. This album is the most entertaining CD i've heard in a long long time.

Andy pretty much only listened to the above album this week but doesn't want to be redundant
P.O.S. - Audition

This album has steadily got play from me over the past few months so I felt now was a good time to throw it out there to anyone who might be interested. First off, I really don't like rap. I would go so far as to say 95% of rap I could not even tolerate. But on Audition, P.O.S. just shows a side that is rare in most rap, the aspect of everyday life. Sure you could turn to Eminem for an ape-shit crazy outlook on life. But everything from the lyrics to the beats are unique as opposed to most. On the song "P.O.S. is Ruining My Life" he even samples the guitars from Underoath's "It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door". He is also found on the Minus the Bear remix album Interpretaciones del Oso. I recommend this to all who like rap, but even more to those who don't.

POS is the shit. Great live performer and totally down to earth.

BTBAM... Colors is definitely good, but I think I still like Alaska better.

The Bled's Found in the Flood is and will probably always be their best album. Pass the Flask was not that good.

I am definitely loving the new BTBAM and still enjoying Oceansize. I just hope that, later this year, Meshuggah, A7X, and Protest The Hero manage to still merit their..uh..colors in the face of such achievements.

Whoa, you're the only person I know who's said this haha.

Also, Andy this is very true right now (well, over the past year) and very sad: Dan's luck with the ladies has been lacking, thus he is forced to swallow his pride and Go It Alone

Yeah, I thought Found in the Flood was terrible. There wasn't one song that I would ever listen to again. That's basically why I have no desire to check out the new album. Great picks with POS and BTBAM though

I've loved that P.O.S. cd forever.
There are moments on the new BTBAM that REALLY make me think about Dream Theater. The cd is fucking incredible.
