Here is the return of the illustrious Decoy Listening Station. A new one will be up every Friday, so I expect a bigger turn out next week. This is my first shot at it so feedback/crucifiction is welcomed.

Joss Donnelly, oblivious to the vendetta at hand, will perhaps learn next time he skinny dips in: Pygmylush - Bitter River

First released on tape, yeah early 90's i know, this is the biggest mix of genres you will ever hear a band take on. This disk has everything, from Bob Dylan folk, to Funeral Diner -esque skramz and for good measure a twenty-five minute drone; reminiscent of Stars of the Lid. This cd is like an auditory gang bang, but unlike the grotesque man on man on woman action, this is actually good. Including former members of such bands as: Pg. 99, Malady, City of Caterpillar, and Majority Rule.

Dan is no longer supported as all of his reinforcement has joined the: Bracewar - Juggernaut

Website (http://www.1917records.com) Listen (http://www.myspace.com/bracewar)

Bracewar's Juggernaut is like having rough sex with a girl who enjoys being choked and hit for fourteen consecutive minutes. Never having actually experienced this, I wouldn’t actually know first hand, but if it were to happen, I’d imagine that Bracewar would be playing very loudly through my head.

Blake Woosley is involved in many endeavors. If they get worse than those mentioned in the previous write-ups then I expect to be apalled at: Project 86 - Rival Factions

Website (http://www.project86.com) Listen (http://www.myspace.com/project86)

I'm gonna be honest here; I haven't even listened to this entire album. In fact, I've only listened to about 3 songs off of it (In my defense, I just picked it up yesterday) So I'm going to cut to the chase here: it's project 86, and they just don't put out bad albums. Which is why I feel safe in promoting Rival Factions in my first ever listening station pick. That, and all the songs I've heard thus far have kicked major ass.

Armand snorts blow with Fluffy while spinning: Tulsa Drone - Songs From A Mean Season
http://www.builtonaweakspot.com/images/tulsadrone.jpg
Website (http://www.tulsadrone.com) Listen (http://www.myspace.com/tulsadrone)

Don’t let the name deceive you, Tulsa Drone is neither from Tulsa nor do they particularly play drone music. Instead, they hail from Virginia and play a unique brand of guitar driven instrumental rock. What makes Tulsa Drone so special is their western/country influence coupled with their hypnotizing repetitive guitars. Honestly, I don’t have much else to say about this other than it is fantastic. If you’re one of those people who complain that all post-rock sounds the same and that post-rock has lost all its originality, then this album should pipe you down

Nick has a positive word to speak about NuMetal? Gasp! How: Dir En Grey - VULGAR
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/21w0pCWJbWL._AA240_.jpg
Website (http://www.direngrey.co.jp) Listen (http://www.myspace.com/officialdirengrey)

Although never released in the United States, Dir en grey's VULGAR is a fine example of the intensity and, almost simultaneously, the subtlety that J-Rock has to offer. The opening track "Audience Killer Loop" explodes with the heavy almost immediately just before relaxing to a strong bass line and a soft-rock-esque guitar line, right back into the heavy once again. The track "Asunaki Koufuku, Koenaki Asu" even incorporates the element of swing music into their metal that sounds like Stray Cats if they went berserk and adapted the j-rock lifestyle. VULGAR is full of fun and catchy rock moments that could very well emulate the NuMetal style of the United States. But don't compare Dir en grey to Disturbed or Korn. Dir en grey have yet to release an album as consistantly intriguing as VULGAR, in my opinion. It's worth the listen if you've lost any faith in the integrity or genuinity of American NuMetal (which is most of you).

Chris was too busy watching religious television to have his pick in on time: The Pax Cecilia - Blessed Are The Bonds
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/images/albums/18099.jpg
Website (http://www.paxcecilia.com) Listen (http://www.myspace.com/thepaxcecilia)

Never before have I heard so many different original, unique, weird, and flat out GOOD sounds in one compact disc. You can have this album mailed to your for free if you hit up The Pax Cecilia's myspace and leave your address with them, and in a couple weeks you'll recieve a very well packaged album with a lot of awesome music on it. This record ranges from awesome piano and string jams, to their original screamo-esque sound, to beautiful sounding interludes and ambience. If you are a fan of experimental music, or post-rock, than this is definetely an album you should check out, especially if you are in search of something new sounding and fresh.

Andy now realizes that he should have started on this at an earlier time as he can now lean over the keyboard and type with his sagging eyelids: As I Lay Dying - An Ocean Between Us
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/I/516S7RyNWoL._AA240_.jpg
Website (http://www.asilaydying.com) Listen (http://www.myspace.com/asilaydying)

On An Ocean Between Us, As I Lay Dying take their progression from 2005's Shadows Are Security a step further and shred like I never knew they could from their previous efforts. Progressing along with the musicianship is the vocals. Their contrast of the sing/scream vocals is impeccable. An Ocean Between Us is in stores August 21st, I highly reccomend it to all fans of harder music.

Project 86 album cover is missing...

And speaking of P86, Rival Factions was a little underwhelming in my opinion.

However, As I Lay Dying is monstrous.

Dir En Grey is excellent. I hear Vulgar is coming out here soon.
If it does, I'd like to hear some of their B-Sides for it. The album overshadows the fact that Marrow Of A Bone was such a disappointment and Withering to death wasn't nearly as complete.
