On Letting Go
Listen (http://www.myspace.com/circasurvive)
I bought On Letting Go today (Tuesday). It's a great package overall. The music is beautiful, the artwork is creative and very cool to look at, and it was only $9.99. WIN. I must admit that this album grew on me a lot, as I thought it was quite boring at first. It might be because there hasn't been much progression from Juturna. Hopefully I get to see Circa Survive again when they actually have someone mixing their set so I could possibly hear more than just drums and Anthony Green yelling his lyrics rather than singing them with his infamous voice. He spit on me several times, as I was right behind the front row of kids getting their heads slammed into Anthony's junk as their heads were being massaged by his hands. Awkward. Oddly...as much as he is loved by the female, you'll never see Anthony sticking his sweaty crotch in a girl's face...
As Skylinedfire from the Decoy boards said to me the other day "I don't think Anthony has sex with women, he just snorts coke off of them." Classic.
Editor's Note: Hey guys, this album comes with a FREE RINGTONE! But seriously, I bought a copy of this album. Not for myself, of course. I'm much too much of an ass to enjoy this type of thing.

The Breakfast Playground
Listen (http://www.myspace.com/tomhagerman)
Tom Hagerman is one of the wonderfully gifted minds behind the superbly beautiful group Devotchka. On this mostly instrumental album, Tom shows us just how much he brings to the table in the Devotchka sound as you'll recognize certain elements from previous songs. The album feels more like it was meant to be a soundtrack than a solo effort (my significant other even said it felt like a Philip Glass soundtrack at times - to some, that will mean something). The amazing "Charlotte Mittnacht" (from How It Ends) finds its way on here in more of a reprise format, yet is still hauntingly gorgeous. Lots of accordion, strings, and key pieces to be found here. I am extremely satisfied with my first purchase off CDBaby in quite some time. You'd be well advised to follow suit and give it a try. Every time you do, it gives some hobo his magical beard of warmth. That's important. Don't let the hobos down.
Editor's Note: I am going to purchase this next month, along with Ermine. Then I'm going to force myself to forget that CDBaby exists.

This album is great. Really, it is. It’s awkward and fragmented and too short. But really, it’s great.
I could give you all an explanation on why it’s so great (for example, the crescendo on the last song just makes my man bits tremble), but I’ll just redirect you to some place where it’s all been said already:

But make sure you just open that page in a new browser and leave your Decoy page open, because we don’t want you leaving us; it gets lonely here.
Editor's Note: So, Armand, how's the review coming?

Act II: The Meaning Of, And All Things Regarding, Ms. Leading
Listen (http://www.myspace.com/tdh)
I figured I'd help Ben out and submit another Listening Station (or two). Between Circa Survive's On Letting Go, Saints Never Surrender's Hope For The Best..., and The Dear Hunter's Act II, my music world has been ace this past week. Circulating between these three albums could probably get me through a few more tough weeks as well. After listening to the lengthy yet incredible Dear Hunter CD, it is perfect to give Saints Never Surrender a spin with their 14 tracks of aggressive yet catchy as hell hardcore. Then I'll possibly put on Circa Survive and then back to The Dear Hunter, etc.
Don't expect me to send in multiple submissions again. This week was an exception, being that I've listened to these three albums an insane amount of times each and it was hard to just leave it at one. Plus, Ben's been bitching it up about the lack of submissions this week (as always), so I tried to contribute a little more. I'll probably end up forgetting next week so this could possibly be a make up.
Editor's Note: Is there anyone out there who didn't have The Dear Hunter on at least moderate rotation the last week and a half? Seriously? If so, I don't understand that person.

I don't actually own this soundtrack and this listening station entry is a shameless plug. Go read my review (http://www.decoymusic.com/vb/showthread.php?p=106334#post106334), ya uncultured heathens!!! Anyway, this soundtrack is still really cool, mixing brooding electronica with orchestral flourishes (which were probably also produced electronically). A wacky J-pop song screws things up a bit (it's probably okay for fans of that genre, but disrupts the tone of the movie slightly), but it's all OK because the "Parade" track is equal parts creepy, peppy and totally awesome. Seriously, it's been stuck in my head ever since I saw the movie, and that was several days ago. Good stuff.
Editor's Note: I don’t feel much like commenting on this, as no one but me is allowed to shamelessly self-promote themselves around here!

My first memory of Pig Destroyer is the intro to "Towering Flesh" waking me up in a cold sweat, thinking the end was finally at hand. I've been hooked ever since, picking up anything and everything I can. Since the release of Terrifyer, I've found that Pig Destroyer's short, fast, aggressive tracks are perfect for midnight anger drives, as well as short errand runs. And their new one, Phantom Limb probably won't be any different. I haven’t taken it cruising just yet, but I've definitely sat in stupored amazement at it. It's fantastic.
Editor's Note: That's it. Have a nice night, folks, and drive safe!
