What's Up Ahead is a new article that will be focusing on forthcoming albums from some of your favorite artists. So instead of waiting with your tongue out for a release to come out, here is a glimpse of what some releases have to offer.

Thrill Seeker was just the beginning when it comes to August Burns Red. Their massive breakdowns, ferocious screams, and melodic sensibility is taken to a higher level on their forthcoming album, Messengers, which hits stores on June 19th. The music is faster, more put together, and overall more brutal. You can tell the guys really have fine toned their musicianship because on songs like “Truth of a Liar” and “The Blinding Light” showcase the maturity.
For people looking for a release that will pummel you into the ground, Messengers is it.

Since a review will be posting soon for the new The Used record, I’ll keep this short and to the point. The Used has gone from releasing a critically acclaimed self-titled album to the so/so received sophomore album In Love With Death. Now on their third studio full-length, the band went into studio with John Feldman (go figure) and pumped out a slick and smooth release. The production on the album has the Feldman touch with the overproduced sound, but it actually works with the songs on the album, especially on “Liar Liar (Burn in Hell)”. This song you will either love or absolutely hate.
Overall, the music is more upbeat melody wise and bigger sounding. After a few listens, this album is definitely growing on me.

Website (http://www.underminded.com/) :: Listen (http://www.myspace.com/underminded)
Since being let go from their contract with Kung Fu Records, Underminded has been hard at work on their sophomore full-length, Eleven:Eleven. They searched and searched for a label to release it and finally stumbled upon Uprising Records. With a new label and a new album, Underminded is about to make some big waves in the hardcore/metal scene. Eleven:Eleven is absolutely and I mean absolutely fucking chaotic. This is the best hardcore album I’ve heard in quite some time. If people were in love with Hail Unamerican, they are going to be absolutely ecstatic when they hear the new material the guys have cranked out. With the help from producer Paul Miner, Nick’s vocals sound like one pissed off son of a bitch. They are relentless and destructive. The same goes for the instrumentation on the disc. The band as whole sound so much better. When you hear “Ending in a Secret Engagement” and “A Soft Prayer Whispered” at full volume, you’ll go apeshit.
Eleven:Eleven hits stores on August 8th.

Website (http://www.mxpxp.com/) :: Listen (http://www.myspace.com/mxpx)
Secret Weapon is MxPx’s first studio album release by Tooth & Nail since 1996. Spanning the career of the band, the guys have helped stir the pop/punk genre with their fast, melodic tunes. The past couple albums from the guys have been lackluster with the charisma the band brought previously with their music. On Secret Weapon , you are re-introduced to the old MxPx we all used to love (somewhat). With 16 songs, the guys indulge into the past with a slew of pop/punk goodness, but also a few remind you of the past material that took MxPx down the wrong path. Overall, I think older fans of MxPx will be happy with what they’ve done.
