Wow, another posted this soon? I tell you what, in the past couple weeks I've came across some amazing bands and in this edition, melody is the key. If your in a band and you want people to listen, it's all in the "melody" of the song. You catch the person with that and reel them on in. Take cues from the 5 bands listed below. They know how to do better than some of the pros.

Anarbor sure know how to make you want you move. This quintuplet from Arizona recently self-released their EP Hearing Colours, Seeing Sounds (no they’re not from Canada or the UK, get it?). While I haven’t heard the entire full-length, the new track “Where the Wild Run” shows what this band is all about; catchy pop/rock music. I’m not talking the corny pop/rock you hear, but music that has replayability because it was written with finesse. Slade Echeverria has a way of commanding your attention with his impressionable vocals. You’ll be catching yourself singing along even if you don’t want to. Also, the dual vocals from Slade and Jess add a nice touch.
I know I saw it a lot, but melody is what makes this band so great. Their songs are so upbeat they are undeniably good. With this, Anarbor will easily make its way into your playlist. This is another band to watch out for. For some reason I smell ramen. Do you?

Say Goodnight, My Darling is an album that needs to be released. It was sad to see that the album was put on hold because of the fiasco's between Carbon Copy Media (their label) and Victory Records and the guys also lost two members of the band leaving Nathaniel and Thomas to decide whether or not to keep the band alive. Well, at the end of the day the guys were released from their contract and now are free agents. While there isn’t any material from the album to listen to except “Kiss Me” (which you can hear on their MySpace page), I can tell you it’s a gem. Nathaniel’s vocals are impeccable. There’s such an aura that surrounds his voice and the melodies in the song.
I don’t want to give too much away from the album since it is still tentative of when it will be released, but fans of their EP are going to be overjoyed with the new CD. At the end of the day, Ivory is doing what they love and it shows.

It seems that Nashville, TN is a breeding ground for young indie/rock acts. While that can be a good thing it definitely can make it hard to make yourself known above all the other acts trying to make it. Well, for Merced (pronounced mer-SEHD) that shouldn’t be a problem.
The band released an EP last year with producer Sean Neff (Chicago, Rascal Flatts) and recently record two new songs with Ainslie Grosser (Mute Math, Jackson Waters). From listening to the EP to the new tracks (“Circles” and “Honey”) the guys have definitely showed they are definitely a band that needs to be heard. Their sense of melody is outstanding and the music as a whole is captivating. Their new track “Circles” is the epitome of a perfect indie/rock track; sincere lyrics, impactful vocals, and an electrifying melody. If “Circles” and “Honey” are what’s to come of this band, I’m in.

North Carolina should be proud to be harboring pop/punker’s Farewell. While the band released an EP awhile back in 2004, the new demos are a vast improvement. The guys definitely know the direction they want to go in and with songs like “Anchors Away”; it’s only a matter of time until this band finds a label to call home. With having 6 members in the band, Farewell utilizes each and every one. In all honesty, I think this band could easily become a top contender in the genre next to Fall Out Boy. This band is still young and has plenty of time to make an impact. I know I’m sticking around to see.

When growing up, pop/punk bands such as Blink 182, Fenix TX, and New Found Glory played a big role in shaping the music many of us listen today. While the genre of pop/punk has geared more towards a more pop edge, there are some bands bringing the style back in the vein of Dude Ranch or even New Found Glory’s Nothing Gold Can Stay. With acts such as Set Your Goals garnering much attention pop/punk is definitely be rejuvenated.
While you probably never heard of them, 1994 is an unsigned pop/punk band from Atlanta, GA that just finished up their self-titled 6 track EP. Although they've never officially released it, you can listen to most of it on their MySpace page. The songs are upbeat, charasmatic, and an all-around fun listen. "So Close, Sincerely Yours" is a hit in my book. The rest of the EP follows the same suit, never veering off track. It keeps your attention every second.
Like I mentioned above, with the rise of bands like Set Your Goals, 1994 are hitting at the perfect time.
