It's been awhile since I posted an all metal/hardcore edition of Music That Needs to Be Heard. Well, with about 2 months of scouring the Internet for new bands, I finally found 5 that I believe are in need of being noticed. I hope you enjoy. Make sure you leave some comments.

This is music your mother doesn’t want you to listen to. It’s fast, abrasive, and downright mean. Although I’ve only heard three songs from their new album, Expectants, I know for damn sure it’s going to knock me on my feet. With their blistering fast drums, technical guitar work and Greg Wilburn’s unrestrained vocal attack, these new songs are absolutely ballastic. Take a listen to “Run And You’ll Only…” to hear what I’m talking about.
Oblige is on the right track to get their name out there. Expectants is what many metal bands wish they could accomplish.
RIYL: All that Remains, DevilDriver, Lamb of God

You don’t hear much about the Hungary metal scene. Usually when you think of European metal it is directed towards Finnish or Swedish metal. Well, Hungary can be proud for harboring Blind Myself. The guys have been around for some time now, but their new album Ancient Scream Therapy, should be easily break them into them into the U.S. metal scene. The guys also got help from Zoli Teglas of Ignite on their track “Lost in Time”. To basically explain their style of metal, I’ll let the band do it, “A bit of metal, a bit of rock, a bit of noise, a bit of hardcore, a bit of experimental”. Ancient Scream Therapy is that and so much more.
RIYL: Lamb of God, Mastodon, Strapping Young Lad

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/gwenstacy) | Website (http://www.myspace.com/gwenstacy)
Gwen Stacy is a promising young hardcore band based out of Indianapolis, IN. The one thing that many up & coming bands in the hardcore genre need to do, is to “stand out” from the others. If you go on MySpace or PureVolume you are dragged through hundreds of bands that think if you scream here or have a breakdown there, that it will sell. So wrong if you ask me. What caught my attention when I heard GS for the first time was the melody. Although the music is heavy and loud, there is still a melody behind it that will keep you listening instead of pressing the stop button.
At times they can remind you of Silverstein or Underoath or even As Cities Burn. With that combo it makes for a one hell of a band. Although the guys only have 4 demos out, they are promising enough to garner your attention. This is a band to watch out for.
RIYL: As Cities Burn, Evergreen Terrace, Underoath

So what did you think of the new Trivium album The Crusade? Were you as disappointed in it as I was? Well, although the Florida natives definitely lost a lot of stream with the new album, there is a new unsigned band from their homestate that will surely be happy to take their place. From the Ashes hail from Ft. Lauderdale and recently released their debut full-length Awakened in late 2006 independently. The production on this release is top-notch which isn’t that heard of with many independent releases. The guys definitely went into the studio with the mindset of making an album that will get them heard.
Right from the get go, From the Ashes pummel their music into your eardrums. “Take Back” is blistering fast and heavy hitting. With the strength of Wilkof’s vocals, the songs are taken to the next level. His voice is very reminiscent of Rob Flynn of Machine Head and David Drainman of Disturbed. On “Stand Up”, the song could easily be a huge radio hit for the hard rock market.
If there is one thing I’d like to hear is maybe another guitarist thrown into the music. Not saying the music needs it, but I just think with another guitarist the music would be absolutely ballistic. Either way, From the Ashes are the tits.
RIYL: Disturbed, Machine Head, Trivium

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/browbeat) | Website (http://www.browbeat.net/)
The internet is a wonderful thing. If it wasn’t for it, I probably would’ve never came across Browbeat, a metal band from Italy. Formed in 1998, the band already had two albums under their belt and one on the way. Browbeat recently went into the studio to record their forthcoming album with Alan Douches (The Black Dahlia Murder, God Forbid). While the band only has rough mixes up on their MySpace page, they are definitely a testament to what’s to come from the new album. Balls to wall. If you are looking for some new metal, Browbeat is definitely the band you are looking for.
RIYL: Aborted, The Absence, The Haunted
