You know what, I'll just let the music do the talking in this edition of Music That Needs to Be Heard. Here's a word of advice, make sure you got a pair of dancing shoes on.

If there is one thing I’m happy about in my life, is that I know how to dance. So when I heard The Takeover for the first time, I put on my James Brown shoes on and danced like I was John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. While there isn’t much info out about the guys in the Takeover, all that needs to be known is that these guys play some of the best damn electro/rock music I’ve heard in awhile. They aren’t shy in using a synth and I’m glad they aren’t. "Night Is Alive" is probably the bands best song, mainly because the chorus in it is overwhelming with vocalist Patrick letting out everything in his vocal chords into the song.

The band is set to release their debut EP on iTunes in a couple weeks and it’s a must to pick-up once it does.

RIYL: Boy Kill Boy, Panic! At The Disco, The Killers

The history of lead singer of Ohad Rein could almost be put into a book. The guy has been all around the world and with that experience; he has taken bits and pieces from all of his journeys into his music. OMR is a mixture of folk rock and 60’s pop. The Trousers EP at times reminds you of back when The Beatles and Bob Dylan had such a huge impact on music. Maybe that’s just me, but the music almost takes you in a time warp back into the 60’s when your parents were the same age of you and experiencing the joys of music of that time. All I know is that I’m ecstatic to hear Old Man River’s full-length. That’s for sure.

RIYL: Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, John Lennon, The Beatles

It was in my early teens when I was introduced to pop/punk and from that day I first heard Blink 182 I fell in love. Now, 9 years later, my love for pop/punk is still the same as it was back then. So when I came across Scenic Attraction’s latest EP Short Cry For A Long Lie, it brought many memories. These days most bands think they have to make these creative records to be in with cool crowd, but there are still the select few that play the genre for what it was meant to be, FUN. The guy’s EP is full of anthemic songs and songs about girls that bring out that younger teenager in you (for the older crowd).

RIYL: Blink 182 (older), Houston Calls, New Found Glory

I’ve been following Lórien for awhile now and I’m glad that I have because the bands self-released debut EP, The Ghost in the Parlor, is an indie-rock fanatics wetdream. The crazy thing is that Lórien has only been a band for over a little year, while their sound seems like they’ve been together for a lifetime. The band’s arrangements are subtle, yet very effective and can be heard crystal clear over you speakers thanks to producer Andy Hunt (Jars of Clay, Modest Mouse). Lórien is set to make an impact on the indie/rock scene when their full-length record comes out probably in early 2007. Hopefully by that time, you’ll see them signed. I know if I ran a label, I’d sign them.

RIYL: Copeland, Muse, Radiohead

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/hellostrangermusic) | Website (http://www.hellostranger.tv/)

What makes Hello Stranger the wrecking force that it is? Is it their hooky pop songs? Their eccentric vocalist Juliete Commagere? Or is it that their last release self-titled release is probably one of the best albums of 2006 that probably won’t be heard? Hello Stranger’s entire self-titled album is full of songs that will make you dance and make you tap your feet (“Take It to the Maxx”). The entire album isn’t just dance tunes, but is also has heartfelt songs like “We Used to Talk” and “Es Tu Vida” where Juliete sings in Spanish. Hello Stranger’s self-titled debut is leaps and bounds better than most of the bigger known signed acts out there, but isn’t that what usually happens?

RIYL: Blondie, Metric, Morningwood

I love their EP. I remember hearing awhile back they were close to signing to DTR, but guess that wasn't true.

I haven't come across much for metal that has peaked my interest. There has been a couple bands but I'm still waiting for them to send me a copy of their album to get a full feel.
