In this edition of "Music That Needs to Be Heard" you are introduced to 5 bands that will be sure to FUCK SHIT UP. So enjoy!

How on God’s green earth did I not know that Ignite the Will hailed from my home state? I honestly don’t know, but I do know that Ignite the Will’s new album, Words Fail, is angry, powerful, meaningful, and everything in between. This is hardcore at its best. The production on this album is top notch as well. The album was produced by Andy Vickery of Embrace Today and mastered by Kurt Ballou of Converge. Iowa For Life!

RIYL: Blacklisted, Earth Crisis, Hatebreed

Remove the Veil play a mix of Southern rock and hardcore and I must say it’s damn good. The band seems relatively new, but from the songs I heard they are on the right track to landing a deal. Their music is in your face and like most Southern rock; it makes you want to rock the fuck out. Don’t be surprised if you don’t start headbanging and taking back shots of Jack while listening to these guys.

RIYL: Every Time I Die, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, The Showdown

Blind is the album you have to hear if you are a fanatic for modern Swedish death metal. Soul Demise might be from Germany, but these guys play it like they were all born in a Scandinavian country. The band’s latest release is chockfull of blistering double bass, dueling guitar attack, and a vocalist who wants to rip your throat out. Take a listen to “Ignore the Truth” if you don’t believe me

RIYL: Fear My Thoughts, In Flames, The Haunted

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/sylosis)

I believe the two hottest hardcore/metal acts in the UK have to be Architects and Sylosis, who are both on In At The Deep End Records. The band’s latest release, Casting Shadows, may only be 6 songs, but it hits you harder than a right hook from Mike Tyson. Their song “Oath of Silence” is laced with guitar riffs and a solo at the end that is ballistic. We need Sylosis to come to the States!

RIYL: All That Remains, Norma Jean, Killswitch Engage

2006 is a fresh start for the guys in The Lost Anthology. The band recently was released from their label and now working on finding a new home and touring the U.S. to let the public know who they are. TLA’s new album Silence is Golden is just waiting to be released and the two new songs from the album showcase the band proving that they are a band to watch out for.

RIYL: From A Second Story Window, If Hope Dies, The Red Death

Remove The Veil...Decent stuff. The rest...not so much.

None of these bands were appealing for me. It just seems that metal is on a downhill slide and most people lack imagination when it comes to song writing.

Sould Demise is good, but the others are boring.
