As you may know, Music That Needs to Be Heard usually features 10 bands, but I felt it was time to change it up a bit and focus on only 5. Why you ask? Since this article is bi-weekly, instead of overwhelming you with a bunch of bands, I thought it would be best to put focus on 5 bands that really struck my ear and with the list below, all of them did that and more. So enjoy!

Lying low in Tulsa, OK is probably one of the most promising unsigned acts to hit the music scene in awhile. While there isn’t much info out about the band, the band does feature ex-members of Letter Kills and Mourning September, but this band is a completely different than what the previous bands offered. With Mike Kelly and the Dirty Diamonds you get a healthy dose of pop/rock mixed in with some country flare. Maybe I love this stuff so much because I’m from the Midwest and that I own a pair of cowboy boots, who knows. All I know is that these guys know how to write a catchy tune and make you want to party.
RIYL: Butch Walker, Jimmy Eat World, Ryan Adams

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/wildernessoftekoa) | Website (http://www.tekoamusic.com/)
Wilderness of Tekoa is very passionate when it comes to their music. Every aspect of their new album, The Skies Pale in Comparison, shows that with the intimacy revealed throughout in songs like "Asleep" and "Your Place in the Ground". Lead vocalist, Nic DiPace's voice cuts right through the barrier between your speaker and your ear with his eloquent, yet impactful voice. The instrumentation on the record is almost like flying around in space with multi-layered guitars that give it a lot of ambience. The Skies Pale in Comparison is the perfect album to listen to after a long hard day and all you need to do is relax. Take my word for it.
RIYL: Coldplay, Death Cab For Cutie, U2

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/pedestriansmotor)
The one thing I love about music outside of the United States is the difference in styles. With Pedestrian's Motor it’s a mixture of electronica and indie music. Their latest release, II EP, is reminiscent at times of A Perfect Circle and Nine Inch Nails. When listening to the guys’ new album it feels like a rollercoaster ride since you are thrown all over the place. The first track "Speak So We Hear" is very subtle; same with the next track "Boys Don’t Learn", but when you get to "Throne" it is a complete different story. In the song the guys showcase the heavier side to them.
RIYL: A Perfect Circle, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/jermeywarmsley) | Website ( http://www.jeremywarmsley.com/)
Jeremy Warmsley is a man who likes to get things done, especially on his own. Jeremy insists on self-producing all of his material and from the quality of his new single “I Promise”, he knows what he is doing. October 9th will mark the release of his forthcoming album The Art of Fiction and will be released through Transgressive Records in the UK. While there are only a few songs out for his new album, his new single “I Promise” is good as they come and gives you a glimpse of what to expect from his new album. The Art of Fiction looks to be a big breakthrough for this fellow British gent.
RIYL: Animal Collective, Jeff Buckley, Regina Spektor

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/spacepilot)
California is a breeding ground for many of the best up & coming acts, but at times it can definitely get overcrowded. When that happens, it takes a certain band with intensity in their music to overthrow the bands behind them. Space Pilot is able to draw you into their music and mesmerize you with their alluring sound. I'm not sure the age of these guys, but judging from their pictures it looks like they are in their late-teens or early 20's and if that is so, I can’t wait to hear what is next for this band.
RIYL: Bernard, Radiohead, The Appleseed Cast
