This edition of Music That Needs to Be Heardyou get a healthy dose of unsigned acts and some signed acts. And as usual, there is no genre boundary. So enjoy!

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/ericson) | Website ( http://www.ericsonrock.com/)

With their release of their EP Resting on Right Now, the guys of Ericson have been slowly making a name for themselves within the industry with their infectious style of pop/rock. Their foundation is strong with everyone in the band playing their part. In all honesty, they put to shame many bigger pop/rock acts out there now. These guys are the real deal.

RIYL: Boys Like Girls, Cartel, The Academy Is…

http://www.breakingcustom.com/images/bandstohear/072106/thywillbedone.jpg Thy Will Be Done (UNSIGNED)
MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/thywillbedonemetal)

These guys bring the fucking metal. Their music is aggressive, never letting down and just overall ballistic. Lead singer, J Costa, voice is brutal as they come. If these songs are what’s to come from these guys, expect them to sign soon.

Also, the guys were recently included on the Stillborn/Abacus sampler, so make sure to pick that up to hear their new song "Voice Divides".

RIYL: Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, Pantera, Shadows Fall

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/fiore)

Fiore is one of those rare finds. They are definitely a diamond in the rough. The band recently self-released their EP Let’s Make This Instinctive and is picking up speed. You could say their music is a cross between Copeland and Circa Survive. While vocalist Adam Clinton does sound a bit like Anthony Green, who is to say that is a bad thing? In all honesty, these guys could do exactly what Saosin did with their Translating The Name EP. Get them in the studio with a big name producer and push their sound to the next level. I’m excited to see what lies ahead for these guys.

RIYL: Copeland, Circa Survive, Saosin

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/maydayparade) | Website ( http://www.maydayparaderocks.com/)

Mayday Parade is a bomb ready to explode. The guys have already sold over 3000 copies of their self-released EP Tales Told By Dead Friends and the momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The guys will be heading out on Warped Tour in support of the EP in August to showcase their explosive style of pop/rock.

This 6 piece band from Tallahasse, FL are about to put their name on the map.

RIYL: Armor For Sleep, Fall Out Boy, The Starting Line

MySpace ( http://www.myspace.com/roulettamusic)

You know what? I’m a sucker for some good ol’ southern rock, especially if it is from Atlanta, GA’s, Rouletta. I have to give thanks to Johnny for mentioning these guys.

The boys recently headed back into the studio to remix/remaster their EP, but the songs they have on MySpace right now are as good as they come.

Here is a fun fact. Did you know that many of the guys in Rouletta are from ex-A Small Victory (Lobster Records)? Well, they are.

So I say put on some cowboy boots (I have a pair of snake skin ones) and a bottle of Jack and party the night away with Rouletta.

RIYL: American Minor, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Shinedown

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/windsordrive) | Website ( http://www.windsordrivemusic.com/)

Texas has got to be the breeding ground for new bands. They must have something in their water because it seems like every time I blink a new one pops up.

Some people say that MySpace is a waste of time, but I say you’re wrong. I received a friend request from the guys in Windsor Drive and most of the time I just accept and never listen, but for some reason I was compelled to check their music out. I’m glad I did because they are absolutely breathtaking.

Head over to their MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/windsordrive) page to download their 4 new songs.

RIYL: Copeland, Keane, Lovedrug

http://www.breakingcustom.com/images/bandstohear/072106/hernightmare.jpg Her Nightmare
MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/hernightmare)

Resist Records is a haven for up and coming hardcore acts in Australia. Their roster list includes Parkway Drive, I Killed the Prom Queen, and Carpathian. Well, you can add Her Nightmare as their new rising star. The band released their debut full-length, No Heaven No Hell back in 2005, but it is still ringing loud for all to hear. The album is 10 tracks of pure aggression.

It’s time for Her Nightmare to invade the U.S.

RIYL: Comeback Kid, Hatebreed, Most Precious Blood

http://www.breakingcustom.com/images/bandstohear/072106/schaeffer.jpg Schaeffer (UNSIGNED)
MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/officialschaeffer) | Website ( http://www.schaeffermusic.com/)

Schaeffer is a melodic rock band composed of three brothers from Detroit, MI. The band’s self-released debut No Ordinary People is leaps and bounds above the rest of the playing field. Their music is honest and from the heart, which makes it that much more enjoyable to hear. Also, the production on the album is top-notch especially for an unsigned band. It’s tight knit and is heard crystal clear through you speakers (listen to the song “Stay”).

Calling all labels. Listen up!

RIYL: Augustana, Dashboard Confessional, The Afters

MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/variac) | Website ( http://www.variacgo.com/)

Look what we have here, another band from Atlanta, GA called Variac. These guys play straight up rock’n’roll. What attracted me to the band in the first place was their video for “Wasted Ones” which you can check out here (http://www.myspace.com/variac). The sense of humor in the video showed that the guys are playing music for the “fun” of it. Also, just reading their bio gave me a chuckle as well. Too many bands these days are too serious and the music loses its fun factor. That doesn’t happen with Variac and with the release of their EP Break It To Your Boyfriend…, people all over the states will be hearing some damn good rock’n’roll.

RIYL: Butch Walker, Jet, The Strokes

http://www.breakingcustom.com/images/bandstohear/072106/anotheryear1.jpg Another Year
MySpace ( http://www.myspace.com/anotheryearhc) | Website ( http://www.anotheryearhc.com/)

Another Year is on the right track to gaining big exposure here in the US (they are from Sweden). The band has already secured shows with Shai Hulud, Champion, and Comeback Kid and with their self-titled EP they show you they can keep up with the rest of the pack. The guys play melodic hardcore at it’s best.

RIYL: Champion, Give Up The Ghost, Strike Anywhere

None of these bands really did anything for me.
..much props to Thy Will Be Done for having Thomas Sullivan Magnum IV in the band though.
