xRinox's 2009 Top Ten

  1. 1.
Things We Can See and Things We Cannot So Long Forgotten - Things We Can See and Things We Cannot

To my eyes and ears, this album has a strong staying power. Wide influences from hardcore to blues, honest lyrics and tight musicianship get together to outcome original music. I can totally tolerate beliefs when music sounds as good as this.

  2. 2.
The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion dredg - The Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion

I've read many dissapoinments with this one, but for me contains just another step up in dredg's evolution in music. These guys manage to create some inspiring grooves and I strongly believe all the praise they get isn't enough.

  3. 3.
    Beggars Thrice - Beggars

Contrary to Dredg, I happen to concur with other readers when I thank this band for making another 'band sounding' album. I'm all about organic sounds and natural rock playing. And that's exactly what these guys did with Beggars... their ability to write cohesive songs overcomed all the layering and experimenting done in the past. Thank you again Thrice.

  4. 4.
For Long Tomorrow toe - For Long Tomorrow

I'm not that into post-rock, as my list can show. Many people label this band as post-rock but I can tell these guys go beyond genres. The drums here are sick jazzy stuff and i can't imagine how they come up with all these math arrangements, and is a bless they can translate it into music that sounds as sweet and simple as if it was the easiest thing to do in the world.

  5. 5.
    Esque Lorien - Esque

Seems christian bands are highly inspired and all the church music teaching has its results.

  6. 6.
It Hates You He Is Legend - It Hates You

Decoy readers loved this band since the begining, and i find myself trapped in their charms too. Don't plan to escape so i'll just keep spinning any He Is Legend album to receive my 'tight in your face rock' doze. It Hates You is not the exception, they've only changed the pace this time around to give some variety to their sound. But perfectly reflects band.

  7. 7.
The Inevitable and I Harvard - The Inevitable and I

Is always rewarding to find a band that releases such a quality album unexpectedly. Never heard of them before and this album shocked me. Actually, since the demos they posted along the year i knew this music fit my taste. It's kinda sad they are always compared to Circa Survive, I can't deny the similarities, even tho i think this band has a broad new offering, circa rocks in some other way.

  8. 8.
Capture And Embrace It Prevails - Capture And Embrace

I happen to love hardcore, and these guys have managed to write an album that raises some great features of it combined with original ideas that i enjoy all the way through this disc. Didn't know about this band till this year and i'm happy decoy introduced them to me, their first album is a great listen too.

  9. 9.
Happiness Dance Gavin Dance - Happiness

Seems like everyone hated this. Maybe that was the main reason why i gave it so many listens, my veredict is that this album has crazy riffs, the songs flow smoothly, and the muscianship is both tight and creative. I'm sorry =D

  10. 10.
    Anthology Colour - Anthology

For some years now, there seems to be a great scene happening in the uk.. forget about enter shikari, there's much more to check out in there. A great example is this math-rock quintet whom released an album containing all their recordings from eps and 7"s, along with some new songs. Now defunct Colour has left proof of how music can be carefully crafted and fun.
