jared's 2011 Top Ten
-
1.
Volumes - Via
The perfect mix of metalcore and djent. The only flaw is that there are not more songs with clean vocals like "Edge of the Earth."
-
2.
For The Fallen Dreams - Back Burner
Continuing to grow into the band that released 2009's Relentless, For the Fallen Dreams' Back Burner intertwines heavy and melodic in a way that many others fail to accomplish.
-
3.
Unearth - Darkness in the Light
They don't change much, but they keep churning out some of the sickest metalcore in the genre. 'Nuff said.
-
4.
Counterparts - The Current Will Carry Us
The Current Will Carry Us went a different direction from Prophets, that seemed disappointing at first. However, it's hard to overlook the talent of Counterparts.
-
5.
Confession - The Long Way Home
Love him or hate him you can't deny Michael Crafter makes some toe-tapping music.
-
6.
Darkest Hour - The Human Romance
Darkest Hour can always be counted on to deliver heavy and melodic albums that showcase some sick guitar playing. The Human Romance is no exception. It feels as if the band is renewed now that is out of it's Victory label obligations.
-
7.
August Burns Red - Leveler
It's hard to admit it, but Leveler was a letdown. The sheer amount of musicianship in August Burns Red excels the album up the list a bit, but stops it short of what the they are capable of.
-
8.
Born Of Osiris - The Discovery
Born of Osiris hit the sweet spot with The Discovery. Hopefully, the follow-up will continue the trend.
-
9.
Boys No Good - Never Felt Better
No other album this year was more appropriate to be playing while cruising around with the windows down than Never Felt Better.
-
10.
Funeral For A Friend - Welcome Home
This album represents a step back in the right direction for Funeral For a Friend.
