Dylan Newell's 2009 Top Ten

  1. 1.
Mean Everything To Nothing Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything To Nothing

This album is just phenomenal.  There is never a dull moment and by the end you just want to listen to it more.  This band is definately going somewhere next year.

  2. 2.
Say Anything Say Anything - Say Anything

Say Anything is just a band that you never know what to expect when they put out new music.  When the self-titled Say Anything came out, I was surprised by how real the songs felt to me.  This band has never let me down, and I hope next year is no different.

  3. 3.
    Daisy Brand New - Daisy

Brand New really surprised me with Daisy in a way that I was expecting something totally different.  Daisy is a solid album with some interesting music from an already great band.

  4. 4.
This Will Be the Death of Us Set Your Goals - This Will Be the Death of Us

Amazing album.  Amazing band.  Definately was worth the wait.

  5. 5.
The Great Misdirect Between The Buried And Me - The Great Misdirect

Between The Buried And Me really pushed themselves this year with a bunch of tours, a live DVD/CD for Colors, and a new album that is amazing just like every other album they've put out.  This band is just amazing to listen to with their symphonies that they can put together.  The Great Misdirect was just one of those albums that blew my mind this year.

  6. 6.
Homesick A Day To Remember - Homesick

Homesick was HUGE.  A Day To Remember had been pushing themselves touring and getting bigger and bigger and then put out Homesick and just exploded.  From the amazing opening "Downfall Of Us All" to the hard hitting closer "If It Means A Lot To You", this is album is just solid.

  7. 7.
    Blueprint 3 Jay-Z - Blueprint 3

Jay-Z doesn't really ever disappoint.  He's a great rapper and puts out some great music.  The Blueprint 3 was just full of great songs.

  8. 8.
    3D I See Stars - 3D

This album really didn't hit me until after the summer.  People were hyping this band up. and I just didn't ever give them a listen.  When I did, they really caught my attention like some of the other upcoming hardcore bands do.  I love this album, and I can't wait to hear more from this band.

  9. 9.
Nothing Personal All Time Low - Nothing Personal

While this album might be over-produced, it's defiantly a great album for this band.  I've been listening to All Time Low since Put Up Or Shut Up came out and have loved them this whole time.  I'm hoping to hear a lot more from this band soon.

  10. 10.
Brand New Eyes Paramore - Brand New Eyes

Brand New Eyes is just great.  Paramore deserves all the success they're getting.  They really built themselves up, and this album really shows that the band has matured and has a huge audience.

Honorable Mentions

In the Unlikely Event The Fall Of Troy - In the Unlikely Event

I love this band.  This album was no disappointment and held up to my high expectations for this band.  If you ever have a chance to see these guys live, go do it because it will blow your mind.

Here, Here, and Here Meg & Dia - Here, Here, and Here

I've never really been a fan of Meg & Dia, but this album is just pleasant to the ears and has some really catchy songs.  They're probably a really underrated band, but I think this album is showing some progress in songwriting for them.

Beggars Thrice - Beggars

While the leak of this album was a bit premature, the band (and their label) really bounced back from that and had some good sucess this year.  Definantly was hard putting this album in the last 5 albums, but it just didn't stick to me like I thought it would.

Almost Home Evergreen Terrace - Almost Home

Nobody liked Wolf Biker.  It's the truth.  This album was a bounce back on the feet for the band with some great hardcore songs with a driving alternative rock sound behind it.

Deflorate The Black Dahlia Murder - Deflorate

The Black Dahlia Murder has really grown on me this year.  Since I saw their DVD that came out, I've really been listening to these guys a lot.  I loved Deflorate, but I thought it could have been better compared to some of their older albums.
