After almost two years, The Beautiful Mistake are back and nothing has changed. The same great catchy emo goodness is still there. In fact, they are what make this split worthwhile because Ettison Clio, on the other hand, are pure crap.
Now don’t get the wrong idea, tons of great bands are fronted by females; Eisley, The Sounds, Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer, and so forth. But Ettison Clio do not only sound like a mediocre emo band, but have plain lyrics that do nothing but make you wish the song would end.
And now for The Beautiful Mistake. Great vocals, somewhat decent lyrics, and catchiness to boot. Sure it’s been done before but they pull it off well. The only real bad part about their songs is that I listened to two songs and thought that it was just one. They really sound that similar. It’s not the worst thing because they sound good, so it’s not really worth complaining about.
If something works, why try and change it? The Beautiful Mistake may not have matured as a band but they are doing what works best for them; writing simple, catchy music. It’s bound to appeal to everyone who wears make up and has strange haircuts (you know who you are) and the rest of the rock fans.
If The Beautiful Mistake would have released this CD without Ettison Clio on it, it would have been all the more enjoyable. To make a comparison, it’s like winning an Ipod... with nothing but Aiden on it. It’s great that you won an Ipod, but it’s fucking Aiden. If that doesn’t make sense, I mean that half of this CD is great, and the other half is pure shit.

Really? I'd have thought their latest one before this EP would be your favorite since it was more mellow than their debut.
