Thursday may just be the musical incarnation of Jesus, plain and simple. Their third album, War All The Time is a brutally accurate example of what every album should sound like, whether it consist of hard, rocking anthems or beautifully constructed dream pop.

War All The Time finds the band following more or less the same blueprint as their last album, 2001's surprise hit Full Collapse. Both discs are packed with energetic, passionate tracks that are riddled with layered harmonies and pounding drums, but War All The Time exhibits a slightly more refined sound than it's predecessor. Where Full Collapse sometimes drowned in it's own pretention, their Island debut does not. Instead, it basks in its much more established lyrical structures and heartfelt vocals. The band seems to have a lot more worthy things to say on War All The Time, as evident on tracks like "For The Workforce, Drowning" (a song about 9/11), "Division Street," and "Signals Over The Air," and these are perfect examples of Thursday doing what they do best: rocking out.

A lot of the tracks on War All The Time have their own standout moments, instead of blending into each other like some of Thursday's previous songs. The first half of this album is impeccable; it's an eclectic mix of hard-hitting, oddly-timed rock tunes that do nothing less than leave you stunned. The second half essentially starts off with a piano ballad ("This Song Brought To You By A Falling Bomb"), but don't even think about jumping to any conclusions; the tune just happens to be a brief rest for the listener. "Steps Ascending" kicks the album right back here it left off with "Asleep in the Chapel," and songs like the title track "War All The Time" and the closer "Tomorrow I'll Be You" help keep the album as consistent as possible without being extremely repetitive and boring.

Essentially, War All The Time is the album that Thursday has been waiting to make since their formation, and this is the album that will shut the naysayers up once and for all. Finally the band has made an album remarkable from start to finish and unlike some of their major-jumping peers, Thursday haven't lost an ounce of their musical integrity since they left Victory earlier this year. If you loved Full Collapse, you'll be enamoured with War All The Time.
