If one good thing can be said about Throwdown, it is that they do have talent as musicians, it just seems that since their transition from an indie orange country band to one of Trustkill’s current top dogs, a fair amount of their originality has been shed, only to be replaced by typical tough guy lyrics, your standard metalcore riffs, and corny chanting that was outplayed five years ago.

Vendetta offers pretty much the exact same thing that Haymaker did, and after a few songs this album becomes quite boring. It's no doubt that tracks like “Speak the Truth” and “This is Where It Ends” would come off quite more enjoyably live as intense crowd pleasers, but that fact still doesn’t replace the hole that is left in this album due to a lack of originality. In terms of the current metalcore fad, Throwdown are quite high on that list, and while they do have strong playing abilities and are touring machine, there are many acts out their using the genre in fresh, unique ways that deserve your attention much more than Vendetta.

All in all, Vendetta will probably be a hit because of the current trend, but as far as longevity goes, the band’s past works such as Beyond Repair and You Don’t Have to Be Blood to Be Family will more than likely stand the test of time better than any of the band’s major label releases.

Dizamn, this writer has been in quite the mood lately… trashing everything in his path. Like the last record he tore apart, he’s being just a tad harsh. Nevertheless, I still can’t help but agree with the review though. I’ve heard this album, and I can’t say isn’t anything more mediocre seeing as how NOTHING on it is anything close to being original.

Personally, I think Throwdown has always been about simplistic tough guy hardcore. In the climate of today's music scene they may seem like one of the rest, but they're just sticking to what they've always been.

You know, when you think about it, Throwdown has been doing the tough guy hardcore/metalcore longer than probably 90% of the current bands in the genre. They've stuck by their guns, they've put out quality music in this genre repeatedly, and they haven't been swayed by trends. You never have to worry about Throwdown selling out or changing things to fit in. I applaud them for that. I also think this is a tight cd if you dig the tough guy hardcore scene. Heck, I hate most hardcore bands but this cd is the shit. No way it deserved to get trashed how Josh trashed it.

Don’t know anything about their past, so this was the first Throwdown piece I’ve ever heard. And I found it boring as hell. Ah well.

throwdown is the definetion of boring. can we have any more reeally slow, un-intense metalcore songs? CAN'T GET ENOUGH! I'm straight edge, but throwdown sucks big time for me.

Huh. Guess I'm the only Throwdown fan on these boards :( Should have expected it, though, since everything I like seems to be hated by everyone else.

shit I am all about Throwdown... sure, they do the same thing over and again on their CDs but I bet most hardcore lovers around here wouldn't dare speak bad of Bane... well guess what, they do the same fucking thing over and again but I'm not complaining! It is tough guy hardcore through and through, either you love it or you don't

i can't say that I hate this band... for what they do, they do it well... and they have loyal fans and are amazing guys. albeit this album was more of the same, Throwdown fans of old will love this.

Ive been a huge Throwdown fan for a long time now and I was soooo bummed out my this album. They even rip off a riff of one of their older songs for "Vendetta" the title track. Its not good.

i haven't liked any of this band's releases for trustkill. i loved their cover of 'baby got back' though, that was like the song of my senior year in high school. i still get a kick out of it.

Hahahaha, I used to listen to that song all the time. I think Jared emailed it to me out of the blue one day and I thought it was the shit. Didn't even know it was Throwdown at the time.
