Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the newest nominee for the Most Annoying Looking Band Award – This Day Will Tell. Now, many people will tell you not to judge a book by its cover, but hop on over to the band’s MySpace and have a look for yourself. Before even listening to any songs, take a gander at this Floridian quintet and try to guess at the quality of music they’ve created. Perceptive folks will pick up on the fact that the group’s debut full length Too True to Be Good is poorly written, generic, and just downright painful to listen to at times.
The album starts out innocently enough and actually sounds promising at first. “Sweet Dreams, Meet You There” is reminiscent of old Life in Your Way with its melodic breakdowns and driving choruses, giving the listener reason to hope. “Get Over Yourself” follows and, despite its generic intro, still ends up being a decent track that once again successfully balances the heavy and melodic sides of the band. The third song, “Seattle is No Place for Batman,” is where Too True to Be Good starts to take an unfortunate turn, however. While guitarist Jacob Kirkland’s singing is good enough for sporadic appearances in the songs and in the choruses, it’s too weak to be the lead vocal part and pretty much kills this track right from the beginning. One of the biggest issues in general with This Day Will Tell is their reliance on clean singing; Kirkland’s voice sounds like every other auto-tuned guitarist who thinks they can sing and really ruins the listening experience when featured for more than 10 to 20 seconds at a time.
This release never really recovers after the third song, and it becomes clear that the first few decent tracks were just flukes. It doesn’t help that half way through, the band covers T.I.’s “Whatever You Like.” Hardcore bands covering rap artists used to be funny about six or seven years ago, but it’s beyond played out at this point. We get it, you’re white kids playing “heavy” music but you’re singing a rap song about banging chicks and getting drunk – what an original and comical turn of events. The rest of Too True to Be Good is garbage; it’s the same overused guitar riffs and vocal melodies that were already played out after the first few tracks, so by the end of the album, it’s hard to wade through the monotony to reach the final song.
This Day Will Tell is everything that’s wrong with hardcore music today; a bunch of young kids haphazardly throwing together a few generic guitar riffs layered with auto-tuned vocals and overdone screaming. There are very few bright spots on here, although there are some sprinkles of potential here there that keep this release from getting an even lower rating. Overall, though, Too True to Be Good is too awful to be heard - don’t waste your time.

I'm usually a sucker for this shit, but I can't even finish a song. Both vocalists are terrible, and the instrumentation is way too simple for how slow the tempo is. I should've listened to you.

Haha, yeah I can get into this stuff it's well done, but it's just not.
Also, I didn't realize Carrot Top learned to play bass and started a band.
