Many times progression in a band's sound doesn’t mean they need make a complete overhaul, it can just be that the musicians themselves have matured and finally found their niche. That statement easily applies to The Wedding’s sophomore album, Polarity. When listening to their previous self-titled endeavor and then to Polarity, it’s almost like you’re listening to a whole new band.

The music on Polarity shows a huge improvement in the band’s overall sound. The biggest improvement are the vocals of Kevin Kiehn. In songs like “Say Your Prayers” and “Rebound” he takes control of the song with his more confident and eccentric vocals. On their self-titled album he seemed kind of timid behind the mic. The same goes for the instrumentation. Cody, Trevor, and Clint have created a solidified pop/rock album that will garner them plenty of attention. On “It’s Time To Rock (On)” the band does just that. While we’re on the subject of pop/rock albums, this CD topples The Almost’s new disc Southern Weather. The only downfall on this album is the length. Cut a few tracks off this disc and you got yourself a winner.

Brave New World Records is on a roll in 2007 with great releases from Deas Vail and now The Wedding. With the slick production from Mark Lee Townsend, Polarity has a considerable chance of catching on with the music public.
