The anticipation grew for Killing The Dream’s follow up to 2005’s In Place, Apart, but after a long departure from any shows preparing for an album that took over a year to make, the band sort of became forgotten. However in June of 2008, Killing The Dream have burst through the door to (re)acquaint themselves to the world of hardcore with their newest Deathwish Inc. release, Fractures.

Like a bloodthirsty wolf circling its prey, Killing The Dream strikes quick and hard. Fractures encompasses every ounce of explosive aggression and grit one would come to expect from the band. Despite the fact that some melodic parts on the disc feel forced (most evident on “You’re All Welcome”, guest vocals by Rob Sullivan of Ruiner), the band maintains the capability to intertwine both rhythmic patterns and intensity to create an even more chaotic assault on the listener. However, one of the major flaws in Fractures is the rather clichéd and cheesy lyrical content belted out by vocalist Eli Horner, but despite this, it’s evident that Horner is putting everything into this and giving it his all making the lyrical content somehow seem less important.

Although technically not a step down from In Place, Apart, it isn’t necessarily a step up either. Killing The Dream haven’t revolutionized the hardcore genre, nor have they drastically changed their approach, but KTD set the world on fire with their electrifying and abrasive style. And now that Alternative Press regarded both Ceremony and Have Heart as bands to watch out for in 2008, Killing The Dream may be exactly what the new generation of hardcore kids are looking for.

I agree with three stars on this one. I am as content listening to it as I am not. ... If that makes any sense.

Wait... this isn't the new Comeback Kid record? :)

When I first listened to this all I could think of was "wow, this is just like a Comeback Kid cover band".

I learned next to nothing from this review. What lyrics are "cheesy"? What are the good songs?

This disc is decent, but this review was lazy.

You don't listen to enough hardcore in this vein then. That's like saying that all metal bands sound like Metallica.
