Today's musical landscape is a place full of bands trying to be different. The problem is that in their quest at being different, they all end up at the same place. Hot Rod Circuit truly is different than most of their peers. Why? Because they aren't trying to breakthrough to whatever is "next." They have stuck to their pop rock guns and with "Reality's Coming Through" HRC is firing on all cylinders.

The disc is full of sugary, 3:00 rock songs that go straight from the speakers and burrough themselves into your brain. Once they're in there, the songs are in there for good. Songs like the opener "Inhabit" and "Tell The Truth" come at you with hooks and harmonies that will get you dancing, but are still edgy enough to satisfy even the biggest rock aficianato. But the disc's best track is the alt country tune "Best You Ever Knew." The song is complete with a heavy dose of slide guitar and the band's biggest asset-singer Andy Jackson's disarming voice. Jackson's voice shines throughout the disc. He possesses a voice that can tell a story without words. Its not beautiful, but there's something about it that makes it believable and passionate.

The album's only drawback is the short length. With only 11 songs clocking at just over 30 mins it leaves me wanting more. There had to have been more songs that could have found their way onto the disc.

"Reality's Coming Through" should get Hot Rod Circuit the acclaim they've worked hard for over the years. With Vagrant behind it, the album could see commercial success that Dashboard has reached. There's no question about it, this is the best pop rock release in years. Vagrant has itself a hit.
