Mayday Parade had a different vocalist and songwriter back before their release A Lesson In Romantics hit the streets: Jason Lancaster. While changing vocalists drastically changed Mayday Parade into the band that they are now, Lancaster kept active and moved on to start his own project, Go Radio, with Fearless Records to back him up. Mayday Parade may have lost its great songwriting when Lancaster left, but Go Radio is sure to bring back his talents to impact your stereo.
This album opens immediately with “When Dreaming Gets Drastic,” which can be described as a dive right into the band's impacting power pop sound.C atchy guitar riffs accompany Lancaster's vocals perfectly. The song also provides a great introduction to the band's sound for new fans and old fans alike. The second track, “Thanks For Nothing,” opens with Lancaster's vocals and a piano. The song quickly builds to add the entire band and unfolds into a power ballad-like song about heartbreak. The overall catchiness of the song almost makes it sound like it could be a great single for the band.
“Letters & Love Notes” is another solid track that brings the songwriting of Forever The Sickest Kids to mind. The vocals and instruments sync up perfectly to put a great sound in your ears, which only makes you want more. The track also features a chorus that is huge with Lancaster and the backing vocals making a perfect accent to the song. “This Isn't A Trap, I Promise” is no exception to the previously described formula, providing an enjoyable pop punk track that is comparable to other bigger bands in their genre. “In Our Final Hour” provides a change in the band's style that almost brings My Chemical Romance to mind (with a pop punk twist, of course). The track is one of the album's best with plenty of different sounds throughout the song that keeps the listener interested for the whole song and then some. “You Hold Your Breath, I'll Hold My Liquor” is an enjoyable song with a great chorus that will be sure to be a perfect sing along track for live shows. The album's closer, “Goodbye Moon,” may not be an entirely original track, but it's a great power ballad to end the album and, again, leaves the listener wanting more.
While Go Radio may be in a cookie-cutter genre, the band is anything but another cookie in the tray. This band knows how to write great tracks that listeners will be talking about for quite awhile. Lancaster's vocals may not be perfect, but he uses that to his advantage and belts out some great music. The songwriting of the band is also amazing, fitting together perfectly with the vocals to create some enjoyable tunes that many will enjoy. If you think that Go Radio is just another power pop band trying to make some money, think again. This band is sure to be impacting the music scene soon, so hop on the bandwagon now.

found this pretty darn catchy and it's clearly evident that Jason was the reason Mayday Parade wrote such good songs and isn't very good anymore.

i thought this was fantastic. while i didn't think the latest Mayday Parade was terrible, they've definitely suffered and it's quite apparent that Jason was the real brains behind their best songs.
