Few bands are able to transcend genres and create music that is both powerful and moving without being over-indulgent and unoriginal in the process. The influences and creativity of every band member becomes an integral part of the song writing process. The end product is desired to be this very music that transcends and moves us. Unfortunately, this isn’t a simple process and many musicians struggle to overcome the bland. Out of a desire to overcome this drab music, the notion of 'epic' comes to mind; to create music that is so monumental and inspiring that it leaves the listener with chills. Again, it's not an easy task to create something 'epic'.
So where does a band turn for inspiration of 'epic' proportions? Perhaps to God, as Future of Forestry have done on their latest effort, Twilight. This is not to say that religion hasn’t always played in important role in the band – clearly, religious themes are rooted deeply within each song on the album, and this might be where Future of Forestry begins to wane.
Consider this: You’re hungry and cold as you sit on a street corner. From across the road you see an old man beckon you towards his home, right beside a towering structure that you can’t quite make out. Out of desperation you quickly oblige and the old man welcomes you into his home. While you eat he quickly begins to initiate conversation about the benefits of religion and the capabilities of God. You might have reconsidered your decision to enter the man’s home if you had previously known what you know now. As you leave the house and walk down the street you are able to see that the large building that you couldn’t make out before is actually a church. You had just spoken with the minister.
This analogy is an attempt to explain the intense spiritual nature of Twilight. While the album may start out with seemingly small touches of religious messages it soon becomes apparent that this pious nature overpowers the music itself. Lyrics aside, the instrumentals on Twilight are solid and polished; at some points they might even be classified as overdone. Clearly, the band was going for the 'epic' sound that was discussed earlier. While they do achieve some sort of transcendence in their music, it is none more refreshing than that feeling of empowerment you get from going to church once a year. Consider this album if the messages of Underoath and Copeland are too passive for your liking, but be warned that Future of Forestry delivers Christianity in heavy doses.

Otherwise, I couldn't agree more with this score more. This band sucks. This LP sucks and the EP before it sucks. I so wanted to trash this crap but I never got around to it. All boring and not original in any way.

S'kay - I found this album hard to finish once... and there was not much to be noted on the cd besides the high amount of annoyances in the lyrics. Lyrics are equally a big deal to me.. I know it's not everything, but if you're rating a disc as a whole, they are part of the package and can severly detract from it.
