When a band spellz their name in a “clever” way, you can pretty much guarantee that they’re going to sound like garbage, and Futur Skullz only helpz to further that stereotype. The band hailz from San Francisco and describez themselvez as “metal that is punk,” but realistically the trio can better be described as “music that is bad.” Jokez aside though, Futur Skullz is a mix between old Metallica and crust punk, which may appeal to some readerz out there, but surely there are better bandz in this genre that are more deserving of your attention.

Futur Skullz’ self titled full length featurez seven trackz that basically consist of one guitar riff repeated over and over again in every song, fast drumming, barely audible bass linez, and vocalz that sound like a very angry Gilbert Grape. It’z a shame because some of the riffz aren’t half bad but when played four, five, or even seven minutez straight, they quickly lose their luster to the point where most listenerz will start to tune out. There are also some shredtastic soloz scattered throughout the songz, like “Flat Effect” for example, but those brief momentz of enjoyment aren’t enough to make up for all the monotonous filler material.

Futur Skullz seemz like the type of band that’z comprised of a bunch of old dudez who don’t really care about much anymore, including their own songz, with the desire to play music from their youth. This ode to metal and punk from the past is respectable but it feelz half-assed here, and the album is ultimately forgettable with little reason to listen to it more than once. With regardz to the current state of metal and hardcore, Futur Skullz are at the other end of the spectrum of the hoardz of bandz featuring girly looking kidz haphazardly screaming over keyboard-laden breakdownz, but it’z still just as laughable.

Dude, awesome review. I don't know how many times you proofread it, but unless it changed the word phonetically, you didn't miss one. I have warm feelingz for this crappy band now just because of that.

Actually, his editor assigned it to him as punishment for being on hiatus for so long.

Good review by all involved! The concept of what this album is trying to do, based on your review, is enough to get me to check them out. I will have to find out for myself, but am not expecting brillianz by any meanz.

Haha, glad you guyz enjoyed it, I actually had to proofread it many timez to make sure everything was in working order. This review was tough because I respect what they were trying to do but I just thought it was executed horribly so if nothing else, I wanted to make it interesting. Zach, I must admit that your creativity has rubbed off on me a bit.
