Danger Radio has been around for about seven years now, gaining momentum on Photo Finish Records and recently signing to Doghouse Records. Fronted by The Scene Aesthetic's Andrew de Torres, the band has some decent talent. There are two things lacking in the band's latest release though: originality and direction.

The album starts with title track “Nothing's Gonna Hold Us Down”, one of the best songs on the album. The opening funk synth combined with Torres' vocals and the rest of the band make this song quite the catchy number. While the song may be a good opener, the album immediately loses momentum with “You & Me”. Torres tries his best to be Justin Bieber, but it just doesn't work out for the rest of the band at all. The song lacks any musical talent, not to mention horrid lyrics that need to stay on pop radio stations. “Set You Free” is just a Maroon 5 rip off that doesn't really keep your attention for long. “Alibis” is a more low key track that starts with piano and builds up slowly as a ballad, but it really isn't anything special. The album just lacks anything original for this band, making it almost unbearable to listen to.

Overall, Danger Radio may have what it takes to be a decent power-pop band if they could consistently keep to that genre. The problem with this release is that every song sounds like a bad rip off of songs you hear on the radio. While it may catch on with the teenage girls crowd, Danger Radio is not fooling listeners with a more mature music taste.
