Many of you probably already know who Beloved is. And if you don't, well then, I feel sorry for you.But really now, Beloved rides a fine line between hardcore and melody, and they do it as skillfully as any band out there right now. With three guitarists, one whom sings, a bassist, and a drummer who does the screaming, how can you possibly go wrong? Now for all of you who don't know, The Running EP was originally released sometime before Failure On. I guess Solid State decided to re-release it because of how well Failure On has been doing, and a smart move at that. This wonderful 6 song EP showcases the talents of a still young Beloved, trying to find the sound that they have just recently mastered on their latest studio release. The production on here isn't outstanding, but it's not bad either, it definitely adds a lot of character to the disc. Songs such as Going Through The Motions and Kiss It Goodbye show just how much potential this band had back then. Hell, all of the songs on here show how amazing these musicians really are. For this re-release they decided to add an extra song that was not on the original, Into Your Arms was a track that I believe was demoed for Failure On, but didn't make the final cut. It's quite good as well, albeit a little poppier than their other material, but definitely a keeper. If you are just getting into Beloved or already know who they are, pick this disc up. It will be a great addition to your collection, no doubt about it.
