Destroy Destroy Destroy are a band that doesn't seem to take themselves that seriously. For a start, there's the name. Then the album title. Add to that; vocalist Bryan Kemp is known to frequently gallivant around on stage in leather studded underpants, and then, of course, there's the music.

Essentially, this is a Children on Bodom record. If there is one thing this band has over COB, though, it's the orchestral elements to their songs. Featuring a couple of interludes throughout, the album opens up with an epic intro of thumping war drums and treacherous horns that continues on into the next song as the band starts to play. After a minute-and-20 seconds of a metal instrumental, it's like someone suddenly hit the Children of Bodom button and in comes Alexi Laiho and company with their trademarked, catchy, non-serious metal for non-serious metalheads.

Initially this record is pretty enjoyable. But – and this is a big but – any enjoyment you may have had with the opening couple of tracks will soon fade; as after the third song of exactly the same stuff, you're just left echoing the same sentiments you get with COB, “Give it up already.”  Everything about this band screams Children of Bodom all over, and this record naturally falls into the same inescapable pit of predictability.  I can pretty much sum this record up with what I said about the last COB release; since every track follows the same formula: Four minute slabs of melodic thrash metal riffs, cheesy tinkling keyboards, death metal croaks, and predictable power-metal solos.

Battle Sluts is a marked improvement over their début, and the production has stepped up a gear, but as much as this is a fun non-serious metal record, there's just no deviation, and on a whole, it ultimately makes for a tedious listen.

This album was pretty terrible.  I can definitely hear the COB influence, and I'd rather listen to COB any day over these guys.

Agreed! This album is horrible. COB is just one of those bands you should never try to imitate, because just like Highlander, there can be ONLY ONE!
