"Progressive instrumentalists Scale The Summit will enter Basement Studios in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on January 2 with producer Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, He Is Legend, For Today) to begin recording their new album, "The Migration", for a spring release via Prosthetic Records.
Scale The Summit's third album, "The Collective", sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 39 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
The follow-up to 2009's "Carving Desert Canyons", "The Collective" was recorded at Paint It Black Studios in Orlando, Florida with producer Mark Lewis (Devildriver, All That Remains, The Black Dahlia Murder).
Scale The Summit formed in 2005 while attending the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. The band relocated to Texas in 2006, where they recorded their first, self-released album. After signing with Prosthetic, they issued "Carving Desert Canyons", which Revolver called "a cinematic blast of intricately melodic fretwork and pummeling percussion," in 2009."

The lead singer of rock band Lostprophets was refused bail today after being accused of plotting to rape a child aged under 13. Ian Watkins, a former boyfriend of Radio 1 DJ and TV presenter Fearne Cotton, was remanded in custody charged with six child sex offences. The 35-year-old was charged with conspiring to engage in sex with an underage girl. He faces three separate charges of possession, creation and distribution of indecent images of children. The singer, from Pontypridd, Wales, is also charged with possession of 'extreme pornography'. Cardiff magistrates court heard that 40 images of children and child abuse were being investigated by police. Two unnamed women, aged 20 and 24, from Doncacster and Bedford, have also been charged with 'similar offences'. Making an application for all three to be refused bail, prosecutor Mrs Suzanne Thomas said: 'They are the sort of charges which will cause public revulsion. The penalty would be a custodial sentence if they were found guilty.' Watkins was arrested on Monday as part of an ongoing investigation into child sex offences.
The rock star dated presenter Cotton for less than a year in 2005, although the pair are thought to have remained friends and were pictured together in 2008. He appeared in court today wearing a black jacket with a high collar and was watched by his mother. A forlorn-looking Watkins did not speak during the 90-minute hearing. The two women also facing prosecution - the younger woman facing four charges and the other facing six - cannot be named for legal reasons. All three were remanded in custody to appear in Cardiff Crown Court on December 31.

Josh Graham parts ways with Neurosis
Posted at 09:19AMHere is the official press release:
A parting of the ways with Neurosis.
For us all, time for change has come. The friendships and body of work that have spawned from our time together will live on as we move forward. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with Neurosis over the last 12 years.
As the crossroads are upon us, and we feel that the pinnacle of our collaborative efforts have been reached; we now look toward our individual futures with support and encouragement. Constant reinvention is at the heart and soul of us all, and we will all continue to persevere.
Despite the larger picture winding down as we move on in our own directions, we will continue to work together on specific legacy projects including reissues and possibly more if/when the right projects come up.
Onward. Josh Graham
From Neurosis:
As of today, after much thought and discussion, visual projections as we have presented them over the last 20 years will no longer be part of Neurosis live shows.
We are going to begin the process of reinventing our live presentation. This process will begin at zero, allowing the music to speak for itself and lead us where it may. Whatever form or however long this may take is unknown.
This also signals a parting of the ways with our visual artist of the last twelve years, Josh Graham. Josh’s tireless work and talent came at a time when we really needed it and carried us gracefully into the video age with original content we couldn’t have dreamed of when we were just starting out. Our parting comes from a place of mutual respect, friendship and understanding. We all agree that this is a step Neurosis has to take and are open to working together on specific projects in the future. We wish him success and the best of luck with all of his own musical endeavors and artistic passions.
In the spirit of sound,
Steve, Dave, Jason, Noah, and Scott
