Everything in Slow Motion... Just Go Listen

Posted by Rick Gebhardt at 10:01AM

Hands was much loved by those of us here at Decoy, so it's great to see Shane Ochsner putting together more music. He has a new project called Everything in Slow Motion. They currently have two tracks out, both embedded below. Listen, and fall in love with them.

This has made my day. Amazing, especially for Hands fans.

Basically sounds like new Hands material. Both tracks are very good. I read also that Shane said he felt Red, was the best material he'd ever written.

I think "I need a cigarette" might just be my default comment for the day. Damn.

So good.

Cigarettes or the songs? Haha, ya, so want them to put together a full album after hearing these two songs.

Me, too! This dude seems pretty prolific, so I think it will happen soon.

I find it interesting how Hands were around for a few years and released a couple of albums that were good, but didn't floor anyone... then Give Me Rest comes out of nowhere and finds the band all grown up and full of amazing. I'd been a fan of the band since their first album, so they weren't unknown to me, but when I  first heard Give Me Rest, I honestly did an audio double take on just about every song. I couldn't believe it was the same band. When bands make such a precipitous change (either for good or bad), I'm curious about what causes it or what changed during the time between albums.

Just like a chef perfecting his/her recipe. Finally, after years of banging out those cupcakes he stumbles upon Dorito sprinkle topping and it is marvelous.

Not to diss the rest of Hands, but I think it's because Shane recorded all of Give Me Rest himself. Even the drummer admitted it (this link, halfway down the comments, Josh Silbernagel). The other two guys were across country and couldn't be in the studio, so Shane had to write and play all of the material. It seems like he is in a similar situation here, and what we have basically been getting the last two years is his artistic vision completely undistilled.
