"The Afterman: Ascension is the upcoming sixth studio album by progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria, the first part of a double album, the second part of which is The Afterman: Descension.
The deluxe version of the album will be released with a coffee-table book co-written by band member Claudio Sanchez and writer Peter David, intended to give a song-by-song experience of the concept album. The album follows The Amory Wars storyline, and concentrates on the character Sirius Amory, the namesake of the concept, as he explores the energy source holding together the Keywork (the 78 worlds in which the Amory Wars is set) and finds that it is in fact a horrible afterlife for departed souls. The artwork for the book will be created by Heidi Taillefer and Nathan Spoor, and the book is expected to provide a "song-by-song" experience for the listener."

I dig it. It's got a GAIV:I feel to it. The vocal lines on the early choruses are kinda meh.
I love hearing Josh's drumming again though.

Won't lie... I had no expectations really... was floored with how much it sounded like stuff off Good Apollo/In Keeping Secrets... if this is the least bit indicative of the album, I think I'll be a happy camper! Will also say that, while I don't put a lot of stock into his storyline anymore, he came up with a fun premise that allows him a TON of different mini-stories in one album.. not a bad idea for being able to play in a lot of directions. DEF glad to have Josh back

I'm with you on this. This track is actually pretty decent. It has me hoping that the CD will sort of follow suit and be better than their last two records. I've spent a good ten years following, buying, reading about this story. AS shitty as its been, I'm continue on. I have all of their collectors crap and I guess I'll buy more of his bullshit.
