Why would anyone be sick of them? I not only like that bands/labels are putting up their music on Youtube themselves, but they are also giving the song some life that you wouldn't find from a static image uploaded by some random dude, further discouraging views from sources that aren't the artist.
PLUS, bands aren't being held responsible for their lyrics nearly as much ever since we stopped buying CDs with sleeves of them. A band has gotta dig the words they're writing to even consider making a lyric vid.
Oh, I don't dislike lyric videos. I just get bummed out when a band claims they have a new video and it turns out to be nothing more than a lyrics vid. I feel it's getting to be a bit of a copout instead of making a real video. But, yes, I agree with all your points.
I usually enjoy lyric videos because, as you said, they are more than a static image "video". However, these tend to highlight how awkward some of the phrasing is on a lot of verses. It's not evident if you just listen to the song by itself, but the syllabic intonation is a bit awkward from Tim.

Nah, you're right. Even decent lyrics look weird when they're flashing on the screen like that. I keep expecting a ball to pop up and bounce across the top of them. That said, like Zach, I prefer this to just a static picture.
Yeah, it's definitely one of the more boring, ripped-off, uninteresting breakdowns they've used. This song was a bit of a disappointment to me the first couple of listens, but now I'm growing to like it.
Rick, you just described every single song this band has ever written. Fuck this colour by number bullshit copy and paste click track asshole douche music.
I personally hate lyric videos, and thats only because as a designer, I can't help but see all the shortcuts and carelessness put into the making of these "kinetic type videos". Granted there are some that are really well done, but the music labels behind most of these bands probably just pay some kid in a closet to whip up this crap.
oh, and the song is nothing special to me, I want the OG As I Lay Dying back... :(
To be fair, that kid in a closet gets to live the dream of getting paid to do his graphic design shit, if only for one project. Even if they're a lilbit shitty, getting paid to do your thing is a wonderful feeling.
Which I can sympathize with, but if you went to school for design you would have seen that everyone and their dog (who have no artistic talent what-so-ever) want to be graphic designers. It's just the "cool" "hipster" thing to do these days. So in other words, there is a reason those kids are still living in a closet rather than their own home...

Also, the breakdown 2:20 into this song made me vomit. And not good vomit. The rest of the song is okay.
