Kevin Smith returns to the directors chair with this crime/comedy Cop Out. Starring Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, and featuring a hardly recognizable Jason Lee (since I'm so used to seeing him as Earl) you figure the movie would come across with a lot of laughter as well as a somewhat telling story.
The movie fell short on both accounts and left me very displeased and disappointed. The laughs were few and far between, the story was immensely predictable and stale, the pacing made it very boring and well all the funny parts were contained in the movie and tv trailers to try and get movie goers into the theaters. Tracy Morgan became incredibly annoying in the first scene and it was very hard to stomach him the rest of the movie. His over the top performance really drug this movie into the mud and it was never able to recover. The gags were mostly potty comedy discussing farts, poop, and diarrhea.
This movie was definitely a "cop out" and should not be seen, it may serve as a solid rental when you've exhausted every other movie in your Netflix queue. With all the talk about poop I actually took a twenty minute crap at the theater in the middle of the movie in hopes of not having to sit through more of Morgan's silliness. It pains me to think Bruce Willis has become this kind of an actor and that the comedy wasn't anywhere near what I expected from Kevin Smith. Stay at home and don't bother with this waste of time.
