tl;dr: The game was originally going to star an adolescent girl. The plans changed when the developers realized that much of the game would be played from a below-the-player perspective, which would invite lots of creepy underage upskirts. This would probably only help the game's Japanese sales, but that's another issue entirely. Here's a thought: Dress her in pants. Let's keep what few strong female protagonists we have in video games. Why don't we just ditch the skirt, instead of rewriting and redesigning the entire character as a male? My best guess is that he will be wearing pants and not a skirt for the exact same reason (among others). |

Even if it stayed as an adolescent girl and with possible upskirt views, why not just make it with little detail, say similar to tennis bloomers or something. I mean, yea, it's one thing if the designers make an adolescent girl with a short skirt and thong visible with highly visible curves, ripples, and detail, but cover the goods, limit the detail, and keep it simple and there's little excitement to be had. If people are more concerned about upskirts in your game, it's a sure sign that you didn't design enough into other aspects of the game to keep gamers' attentions. |
