We all listen to a ton of music day in and day out. So let's share what we're listening to. Whenever you run across something or someone nifty, add it to this thread! To be uniform, since I in Quality Assurance, try to use the following format... and tell us what you currently love!
Band: Blue Stahli
Website: http://www.bluestahli.com/site/
RIYL: Celldweller
Mini-review: I covered this one-man band in a Discoveries article, but I've now been listening to his instrumental version of his self titled album. Great stuff if you dig industrial rock/metal.
Band: Last Dinosaurs
Listen: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Last-Dinosaurs/110472951412
RIYL: Two Door Cinema Club, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend
Mini-review: This isn't anything particularly new, but instead of focusing on how to weave in a million instruments into their sound, these Aussies prefer to use their energy for solid songwriting and driving guitars. With summer around the corner, I know I'll be jamming this a lot.

Band: Memfis Website:http://www.memfisband.com/vertigo-album.html RIYL: Burst, Mastodon Mini-review: Memfis are from the same town as Burst and recorded 'Vertigo' around the same time as Lazarus Bird although it only came out late last year because of label problems. They share some similarities with Burst's sound (who's singer guests on one of the tracks on 'Vertigo'). I'm only in the first few listens but this is worth checking out if you like the RIYLs

Band: Blinded in Bliss Album: Constancy (2012) Website:http://blindedinbliss.ca/ RIYL: Soilwork, In Flames Mini Review: Blinded in Bliss is a project which includes Bjorn Strid of Soilwork and Pat Kavanagh of Threat Signal. Instrumentally, the album is tight and melodic. Fun record to jam out to. Lyrically not the greatest, but for me the production and music itself outshines any juvenile lyrics that one may take offense to. The guitar work is very powerful. If you're looking for some good non-generic metalcore with outstanding and fun guitarwork, with the added bonus of Bjorn's signature vocal tone as background vocs, check out this album.
Band: Starfucker Website: http://www.facebook.com/Starfucker RIYL: Passion Pit, MGMT, hippie sounding electronic stuff Mini-review: Basically electronic indie rock. Been listening to them quite a bit recently, I think they were featured on the soundtrack for that movie Project X too. I don't know how many of you guys will dig it, but it's pretty enjoyable stuff. Might be late on this one since they've been around for awhile, but I've been listening to last year's Reptilians. (probably not for any of you bro-rock/death metal dudes)
I heard a few of their songs in January and meant to get the album, but I forgot. I definitely liked what I heard. Dylan, did you get a chance to check out Last Dinosaurs?

Band(s): Nadja & Vampillia Album: The Primitive World, 2012 Website: http://brokenspineprods.wordpress.com/ RIYL: Godflesh, The Atlas Moth, Isis, Jesu Mini-review: Soundscapes, electronics and atmospheric vocals with slow, epic riffs and dirge-like percussion, creating a slowly moving grand wall of music that has been described as drone, ambient-doom, and shoegazer/black-metal.
Band: Tetrafusion Website:http://tetrafusion.bandcamp.com RIYL: BTBAM, Dream Theater, Cynic Mini-review:
A former instrumental band who've now fully integrated vocals. Their latest ep 'Horizons' is available on a 'name your price' basis from the link above. Tetrafusion play progressive metal but are on the more melodic side of the RIYLs above. This is only an ep but is one of my favourite releases so far this year, the level of maturity in their sound has gone up a notch from the previous album and now brings together the riffs, melodic leads, fantastic bass and vocals into something more coherent.

Band: The Sheds
Website: http://thesheds.bandcamp.com/
RIYL: ska-punk
Mini-review: This takes me back to the good ol' days of 90's ska-punk. Well... more appropriately punk with some ska influences.
Band: Our City Skyline Website: http://www.facebook.com/ourcityskyline RIYL: Counterparts, Taken, Misery Signals, etc Mini-Review: As they wander between twenty ton riffs and soaring melodies, Our City Skyline never relies on pure thuggery, pure technicality or pure thrash to craft their songs. In an age where bands grab at every possible straw to set themselves apart from the pack, Our City Skyline gently gathers their influences and carefully binds them together in a way that never sounds forced. The natural, flowing motion between hardcore's inborn ferocity and punk's nervous energy is just as essential to the band as the instruments themselves.
Their newest release, "Bankrupt" (out May 1st, 2012) was engineered and recorded in Portland's Rain City Audio by Ryan Furlott, with additional tracking and mixing done by Ryan Morgan of MISERY SIGNALS. From the two songs they've posted it so far, these guys have a Huge, realized sound. I'm loving it. Check it out.
Band: Arliss Nancy Album: Dance to Forget Website: http://deathtofalsehoperecords.com/downloads/dtfh013.html RIYL: Lucero, Drive-By Truckers, I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch in the House, Chuck Ragan Mini Review: If you like that country/rock/punk vibe and have any interest in the RIYL bands this album is for you. Not much else to say other than that check this out if you are into the gravelly/raspy vocal, punk/country thing. Equal parts whiskey soaked bar room floor and cold lonesome blues.
Band: Slice the Cake
Website: http://slicethecake.bandcamp.com/album/the-man-with-no-face
RIYL: deathcore... deathcore... deathcore
Mini-review: Not a bad album. Found out about these guys from a deathcore blog I follow, of all places. Go figure. Some might call it progressive, but I don't think they do too much that's actually "progressive"; their songs are just long. Long songs do not equal progression, in case you were wondering. Good deathcore, though, if you're interested in the genre.
Yeah this is a pretty good album. And they offer something more interesting that a lot of deathcore. Perhaps the worst band name in history though

Band: Fine Before You Came
Website: http://finebeforeyoucame.com/
RIYL: Envy, La Dispute, other post-rock-y screamo
Mini-review: I honestly don't know how I came across this band, but their newest album was sitting in my folder of "things to listen to" and since I didn't recognize the name, I tossed it on not knowing what to expect. Turns out, this is pretty solid "emo-core" or post-whatever styled screamo stuff... with not so much screaming, but talking and yelling. Whatever you want to classify it as, though, it's pretty interesting.
I honestly dug the hell out of Slice the Cake. I prefer to think they're just making fun of how stupid deathcore names are, but maybe I'm just giving them more credit than they deserve. It's less proggy and more techy if anything, but I'm definitely a fan of their album.

Band: 16 Album: Deep Cuts From Dark Clouds Website:http://16theband.bandcamp.com/ RIYL: YOB, Eyehategod, DOWN Mini Review: Hailing from Southern California the Sludge metal master's 16 bring just what the title of the album says, Deep, dark, evil cuts, sure to turn the bluest sky into the moodiest shade of gray. Including members of recently decoy-reviewed band "Aeges", the album is relentlessly heavy, bringing to mind perhaps the riffs and groove of DOWN meets the sadistic nature of Superjoint Ritual. Riff heavy, groove laden, ugly and gritty "sludge" is the name of the game and is executed as per the definition of the genre.
