Thanks to this site (and someone's top ten list from last year) I picked up Oceana's Birth Eater and was pretty much so blown away.  They took a genre that is kind of tired and made something special with it.  This year they release the Cleanhead EP and I feel like the have reached a whole different level entirely.

The band has gone from post-hardcore to post-something else.  No screaming and no where near as heavy but still very good.  Getting a new singer might have been the best thing to happen to these guys.  The vocals are very emotive (not emo, mind you) and there is something the vocalist posses that makes him constantly intereseting to listen to.

So anyone else pick it up?  Like the new direction?  I think it's pretty fantastic and look forward to more from them.

Eh, I wasn't into the EP very much. I may give it another listen, but I can't say I'm a fan of the new direction.

Find me EVERYWHERE:

I dug birtheater.  Will have to give this a shot.  From the looks of some of their studio footage, it looked promising.

Not really surprised that people aren't liking it.  It's basically a complete 180 from what they were doing.  I don't know why, but it works for me.
