2008's most disapointing albums?
What are the albums that you got this year that just didn't live up to your expectations or the media's hype?

Recommending: Anberlin, Interpol, Chamberlain, House of Heroes

I had high hopes for Ligeia's Bad News. It didn't live up to any of them.

Death Cab for Cutie was very bland. I wasn't expecting a whole lot since I didn't really like Plans either, but still...

Bloc Party
Weezer
Means

I can't say I had high expectations for Weezer, but c'mon, Bloc Party? Intimacy was so forced. And Means...ugh.

Sunwrae//Chinook Winds

Seriously, though, I'm surprised anyone expected anything from Weezer. And the new Means disc is good.

Not that I was "dissapointed," because I was never a huge fan, but Hit The Lights' first LP was pretty bouncy, and I haven't been able to get through half of the new one. I'll try and think of others.

I think people were probably disappointed with Weezer because there was some hype about this album returning to the things that made the band great in the first place, and this hype was further multiplied by the fact that the new album was obviously reaching towards the past by being another single-color cover self-titled album.

And, to a certain extent, it did indeed return to Weezer's roots, but not in a systematic way, and certainly not in a creative way. The fact that Weezer seemed to court with greatness, but then dismiss it so readily, probably makes the disappointment all the more pertinent to long-time fans.

I love these guys but this disappointed me for the most part. (so did fire and water)

and I'll add: Fear My Thoughts, Into Eternity and Soul Embraced

Cold War Kids, hands down. Just a trainwreck through and through.

P.S. This is what the alphabet would look like if you removed Q and R.

I agree with Thrice. And while it isn't bad, per say, the new Rise Against is disappointing in my book.
