McCain/ Obama debate
What did everyone think?
I feel like McCain was trying to pander to groups who were already most likely going to vote for him, and Obama was reaching out to those same groups that support McCain. That's just a quick thought, though. It just ended and I haven't fully processed everything yet. |

I agree. Although McCain made some good points when it came to foreign policy. McCain made it known he has the experience and has been to these places when Obama has not, yet still talked about them. |

You guys, McCain KNOWS these veterans. Did you know that?
I wish debates were more about candidates getting their stances out there; not taking petty shots and constantly having to defend one's self. I'm obviously biased, but I do think Obama held his own very well on subjects that are more in McCain's ballpark. |

yeah, I wasn't totally happy with Obama's performance (it seemed to me that he missed some key rhetorical slips by McCain to really hammer home his own policy), but overall, I think he did a bit better. Much like Dante though, I'm probably a bit biased...
Did anyone else think that McCain looked pretty uncomfortable, though? I'm not talking about his answers, but the way in which he physically looked. Kind of reminded me of the Nixon vs. Kennedy debate... ~Tom |

Not a whole lot of eye contact in the Debate.(I mean just McCains eye contact) And I think Mc slipped in a "Horseshit" when Obama said Spain were NATO allies or something.

I feel like it was a tie. They both did a good job on calling each other out on certain issues and overall, both held their own. I would say first part of the debate definitely went to Obama and then McCain definitely got it second half. This just favors Obama though because this was a debate where McCain should have beat him overall.

McCain also had a very smug smile on his face whenever Obama talked, I think that definitely counted against him.

Yeah but for every McCain smirk there was an Obama eyeroll and interruption.

That or just plain laughing at McCain. Seemed childish to me. |

He laughed when McCain attempted to compare him to the Bush administration; the crowd laughed too. |

McCain just keeps putting words on Obamas mouth, trying make him look bad. but Obama responded well and knew how to clarify everything Mccain said.
and Mccain was avoiding eye contact all the time, while Obama was relaxed and very confident. |

i agree with it being a tie, but even so, this should be considered an obama victory because foreign policy is supposed to be mccains strong suit, and he didn't seem that impressive. i just cant wait for palin/biden, joey's gonna raise his pimp hand.

Personally, I think both presidential candidates are shit. That's my story.

I like watching the reactions of the candidate not talking. It's all acting and having been coached to discredit what the other guy is saying. When they are "writing things down" as well. I would love to see those notes. Who drew the pretty horsey?
I was a little let down by Obama. He stuttered more than I have seen. McCain surprised me in the second half. He still stretched the truth A LOT though. Also, as it turns out, his "good friend" Kissinger did say exactly what Obama said he did about " no preconditions meetings". Either way, they both are pushing the globalization agenda. Prison planet in the works. Anyone else wish Ron Paul was up there? “There is no such thing as a weird human being, It's just that some people require more understanding than others” - Tom Robbins |

No. Both McCain and Obama are FAR better choices than Paul. I feel like most people who support him don't really know what he is about. |

which is why it would have been interesting to see him up there. at least he would break up the talking points of the other two. add a little fire to the canned affair. maybe, i don't know, force one of them to speak off script for a moment. can you imagine? “There is no such thing as a weird human being, It's just that some people require more understanding than others” - Tom Robbins |
