Nader in 2008 Green Presidential Debate
They didn't let him be in the debate itself because he can't legally (He has pending lawsuits against the Democratic Party in certain states for trying to keep him off the ballot). I suggest people actually sit and watch this. He gives you a ton of information and more importantly FACTS in even just the first 10 minutes. He's really amazing and I hope he runs again. It will be a cold day in hell before I vote for a Democrat or Republican.

You shouldn't. The Democrats wanted you to but a Harvard Study cleared him of tipping the election or acting as a "spoiler." There's about a million other things the Democrats could have done to win. Don't ever apologize for voting your conscience.

Yeah that and they stole the election anyway so it doesn't matter

Indeed, and can we all also remember how Gore and the whole Democratic Party conceded quite quickly without putting up a fight?

The sad part is that people who support actually progressive ideas probably won't ever wake up to the fact that the Democratic Party will never support most of their views, just be not quite as terrible as the Republican Party. People like Kucinich and Gravel really need to switch over the Green Party because just being Democrats doesn't seem to suit them.

Yep. I totally agree. It's not like they are going to get the nomination by sticking with the Democratic Party. At most, they will get minimal coverage and become another novelty candidate that we all forget about over the next few years. I also like Ron Paul although he is not really progressive; he is more of the 'let's do what's right and what will work' kind of candidate which is ok with me if he could get the nomination. But there’s not really a chance of that.

Exactly, I mean look at Dennis Kucinich who claims to have gone into the race to bring up issues that aren't being brought up by the major candidates. That took the thing he said about UFOs totally out of context and basically made him and thus the left as a whole look totally crazy which isn't true at all. It's really unfortunate and just another example of the joke that is the Democratic Party and mainstream media. I mean seriously, what was that question even doing in the debate?

The Republican Party is incredible at spin and talking points and until the Democrats learn to counter that, this type of thing is going to happen countless times.

Well I think you can blame that Kucinich situation on the Democratic Party who sets up those debates and it wasn't like it was on FoxNews. It was Tim Russert asking the question I believe, who is a lifetime Democrat. I think it's high time for the Democrat Party to split between Corporate Democrats and Democrats like Kucinich and Gravel who I hardly see as Dems. The same goes for Republicans as they should split into corporate, moderate republicans and religious fanatics. The party lines just don't make sense anymore, especially when we are essentially given the choice between one Democrat and Republican in the major race (They're the only ones who receive any type of media coverage as a result of their campaign contributions).

You have to keep in mind I consider the media one big Republican since media consolidation has pretty much made it that way. It's sad that NBC also continuously changes the criteria to debate so that Kucinich can't meet it. They won't even let him talk. If they are going to try and make him look let a fool, they should at least let him talk so they have more ammo. But of course if they do let him talk, he's only going to want to talk about sensible subjects instead of that ufo bullshit. Also, I'm pretty sure thinking you saw a ufo is just as ridiculous as thinking that you can talk to god and are doing his work (ie GW). I see what you're talking about with party lines. Romney should have his own though: 'I'll say anything you want if it'll get me in an office'.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting interested in this election, which is surprisingly for me because I'm very concerned for the state of our country and the world. Nonetheless, this image of a faceless winner sitting in the oval office on their first day surrounded by corporate executives explaining "how things are gonna work around here" keeps popping into my head whenever I work up enough ire to care about it.
