Are you like Nicholas Sr., or me? Have you overloaded on the delicious meaty low-ends of djent and death metal? Do your ears now register dropped bass as television static? Well then do I have the band for you!
Sydney's Breaking Orbit are a refreshing take on Australia's particular brand of prog rock, not unlike The Butterfly Effect, Dead Letter Circus, or Karnivool. The big difference is that Breaking Orbit employ a much less pronounced low-end in favor of more eclectic instrumentation-- in that respect, if anything, they're much more early dredg, or even Kaura, the masters of sounding like Tool while also using a dulcimer and Asian bells and shit. Opening with a nine-minute song and closing with a seven, The Time Traveller is rife with big sprawling songs, extended percussion solos, engaging guitar work and soaring vocals. If you're down, get some.

I finally got around to listening to this, and, as expected, it's great.
Is there a school where Australians go that specializes in this brand of music because it's all Australia seems to export lately.

Yeah, this album is stellar. Australia has this sound locked up. No other continent does it quite as well.

dredg had this style locked up, but then they decided to forget how to write music...
