I gave a Athletics' debut full-length Why Aren't I Home? a little lovin' in an earlier recommendation feature, hailing that album as Pneuma's true heir for those who didn't quite dig Moving Mountains' progression into Waves. Back in June, Athletics released their new EP Who You Are is Not Enough, and it flew entirely under my radar. Dialing the post-rock up to 11, Who You Are is Not Enough channels Foreword in the way that Why Aren't I Home? channeled Pneuma. The EP is a downright gorgeous, more classic post-rock effort with a rare smattering of reigned-in, lower register vocals. You can count on plenty of tremolo-laden atmosphere and long, drawn-out song structures with huge, crescendoing payoffs.

Stream it at their bandcamp. Name your own price. Enjoy life just a little bit more.

Bass player of this band is a good buddy of mine.  Glad to see them getting attention, such a solid band.

Every time I see something screech across the floor, and latch onto some guy's neck, and he screams and tries to pull it off, I have to laugh, because man, what is that thing?
