This week's first featured artist, decided upon by Decoy readers, is San Francisco tech-death neophytes Ænimus. Between these guys and Æges, it seems like we've got a crop of great new bands embracing the ash (for non English majors, ash is the letter Æ). Combine virtuosic guitar work, relentless drums, a taste of groove, and quintessential death vocals, and you've got a solid foundation upon which Ænimus builds over the course of their three-song debut demo. Don't think garages and 8-tracks when I say demo, though. With excellent production and a few solid tracks under their belts, Ænimus are poised to make some big moves this year.
